Belt Testing
Logan made the belt testing flyer!
This was, by far, my favorite belt testing to date. Master Murphy opted for a more informal approach which took off some of the pressure (in my opinion) and allowed the kids to relax and just believe in themselves. They did most of the testing as a group (strength in numbers, right?) and we celebrated with a post-testing pizza party.
I was really nervous about Logan's board break this time. I had seen other kids that were older than him struggle with this break at the last testing. Logan has an uncanny ability to believe in himself unconditionally. He expects perfection from his performance, thereby nailing it seemingly with very little effort every time. NOT breaking a board is simply NOT an option in his mind. This may end up being either a blessing or a curse depending on how you look at it as he grows into adulthood. But for now, Logan Allison can do no wrong.
Young Master Murphy shows him the technique.
And he snaps that board in half before I can even get a picture of it. Thankfully, another parent got it on video or I would have missed seeing it all together!
Daddy did a double board break this time (in other news, he is taking a brief hiatus from lessons in order to focus on his running, biking, and work. So Daddy's out and Gavin's back in for the time being).
Comparing breaks.
The highlight of the day was the presentation of Logan's weapons. As a green belt, he is beginning to take weapons classes. This type of weapon (called Kamas) was selected specifically with Logan in mind. He will train weekly and perform with these for the demo team.
And just like that, Logan outranks Daddy and we have a blue tip in the house!
