We miss you, Ashley!

Fun times with Ashley, our wonderful nanny, before she left for her summer internship.
We miss you!

shiners & turds

Keegan has quite the little black eye from a fall he took at Nana's house. I thought I'd take some pictures while he was in the bath tonight in an attempt to capture it on film.

Here's the smiling boy with the black eye...
Followed by...Oh, no! Could it be? The dreaded POOP FACE!
Yep, that's right. Jay spent the last 20 minutes cleaning up bath poop...and lots of it. Oh, the joys of parenthood never end.

Finally Five!

Obviously, I'm a little behind in posting this since Logan is now almost a quarter of the way through his fifth year, but better late than never!

Nana's so lucky. It seems like she's always on Spring Break for Logan's birthday so she got to attend his school party.
The birthday boy flanked by two beautiful women!!!!
Lunch at Logan's Steakhouse

Waiting patiently for his lunch. He ordered steak, of course, so it took FOREVER to cook.

Finally!

Blowing out 5 candles!

psychologists, teachers, & karate-choppers

LOGAN: Gavin, what are you going to be when you grow up?
GAVIN: Huh?
LOGAN: Like, you could be a teacher like Nana or a psychologist like Mommy. 'Cause those are the things that get summers off.
GAVIN: Um.....
LOGAN: I'm going to be a Psychologist like Mama.
GAVIN: I'm going to be a Karate-Chopper.
LOGAN: Mama, do Karate-Choppers get summers off?
ME: Ummm....no, probably not.
LOGAN: Yeah Gavin, you don't want to be that. Karate-Choppers don't get summers off 'cause they have to practice their karate-chopping stuff all the time. That's not a good thing to be. I'm NEVER gonna be that.

Tiger

I'm laughing out loud right now because the US Open is on TV and Gavin just said, "Mommy, come quick! Tigerwood is on TV!!!!!!!!" Their innocence just cracks me up sometimes. Incidentally, Gavin LOVES golf despite the fact that Jay doesn't really golf much and I never ever watch golf, golf, or even think about golf. Guess we need to buy him some clubs.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to two of my fave Dad's!

baseball

I really can't believe how far Logan has come this season with T-ball.

Must be because he has such an awesome coach!

Goldbug

As a child, one of Jays favorite books was Richard Scarry's Cars and Trucks and Things That Go. It seems only natural that the boys would love it just as much. Each page has tons of pictures and the boys race each other to find the tiny little Goldbug who's always hiding somewhere on the page (kind of like Where's Waldo).

my second day of summer

On my second day of summer, I joined the local gym, and now I can't walk. Keegan also had his check-up and shots. Not fun with a one-year old. Poor little guy. He weighs 25 pounds and is at the 95th percentile for height. Gavin had his check-up and did well, but was a bit ticklish while the doctor was trying to do his examination. He's 75th percentile height and weight. He failed the vision screening (which I asked them to do since the child is so clumsy and is constantly running into walls), so we have an eye appointment scheduled for early July. Logan's rash persists and we've decided it's finally time to see an allergist. His appointment is mid-July, just before we leave for Duck. They want him off of antihistamines for 3 days, which might be impossible, but we'll try it.

coolin' off

Birthday parties are so much fun! Especially when it's 90 degrees outside and they have one of these things...Keegan stayed home with Daddy and napped, so I had the boys all to myself.
I could barely get them to slow down long enough to pose for a picture.
One of the dads set up this little contraption to simulate being pulled through the water by a boat. Then he disappeared and left the kids on their own. Injuries, fights, and near-drownings quickly followed, as you can imagine.

my first day of summer

On my first day of summer vacation I ran a 5K, took the kids swimming, went to Walmart, cooked, cleaned, did 8 loads of laundry, built a Lego spaceship, played soccer, wrestled, changed 4 diapers, wiped 1 nose & 2 bottoms, conducted "school", read 3 children's books, bathed the kids & got them ready for their doctor's appointment tomorrow, cut 40 fingernails & 30 toenails (none of them were Jay's in case you're wondering), had a wonderful day just being a mom, and earned this glass of wine!

things I said tonight that I never thought I'd say

1. No, Logan. That's not a popsicle. It's a tampon (this was followed by several questions about tampons and what they're for -- "But Mom, is it food?").

2. No, Gavin! That's not a gun. It's a breast pump.

3. Because I'm your mom and I said so. That's why!
