What I'm Loving Now: Keegan's Cape

Made by Gram, with love

I just paid $300 to help my dad shovel snow!

Quotes by Jay: "I just paid $300 to help my dad shovel snow!"

He made it to Hebron just in time for a historically, gigantic snow storm. The trip had been planned for months and the "kids" were looking forward to surprising Nancy. She was perfectly and utterly surprised and he was able to catch it on video for us to watch later. Well, they made it to town, but the rest of the plans were cancelled due to weather and they spent the weekend hunkered down on Ridge Road helping Roy shovel snow. Jay said he was perfectly happy just hanging out with the family and visiting with everyone. He could do without the snow shoveling part. I can't believe how big little Allie is!!!!

The Allison Weekly: Week of 2/4/2013

Some highlights from this week...

Why, oh why, does my future Picasso always draw pictures of wine glasses?
What does that say about his mother?
Succumbing to peer pressure from his girlfriend, Ella, Keegan tried his first non-water drink. Seriously, all he drinks is water and the occasional glass of chocolate milk. So, he tried this Minute Maid Cooler in Pink Lemonade flavor. And loved it. Duh.
Then he tried a Roarin' Waters and loved that too. So, I guess now he'll be drinking these like every other kid in America. Not sure how I feel about that. Water is so good for you and he has excellent teeth. On the other hand, I love to watch him explore his world and try new things. Remember when he wouldn't eat meat? Well now he eats chicken, hot dogs, and hamburgers! My how much he's grown!
This is the first weather report I saw predicting Winter Storm Nemo. My husband, who hates flying, is set to fly into this on Thursday.
Proof of why we shouldn't keep pocket knives in the bedroom of a seven year-old. Gavin stabbed himself in the finger and boy did it bleed...all over my hardwood floors.
Originally, Keegan refused to wear his bike helmet. Now he wears it both inside and outside the house!
I like to photograph my outfits sometimes because I can never remember what shoes or jewelry I wore with certain things and it makes getting dressed in the morning much easier. Do you see a little someone hiding between my legs? Now that I've figured out how to turn my blog into a book, I just had to include this picture. I'm quite certain I will be appalled at my fashion choice when I come across this picture years from now. Mint green pants, a pink and brown striped shirt, and a leopard print belt! But today, I like it.
I was aching for some quality family time in the middle of a busy week, so we decided to go out to dinner at Po' Boys. Don't we look like we're having fun together? It's late and the kids are hungry and tired. The service was sloooooow and that made for a cranky night out.
Someone needs to buy me this shirt. I plan on making this my mantra.
This is part of my family organization -- school lunch menu, dinner menu, important papers, etc. I like to write song lyrics and quotes on here since it's the last thing we see as we walk out the door in the morning. Great song.
Guilty.
Mid-week ice cream treat with Nana.
So, Daddy made it to Connecticut just ahead of the storm for Gram's birthday surprise. This is Dad's old tree fort early on during Nemo. More on this in a separate post.
There's a pool somewhere out there too.
While he was away, we had sunny skies and 70 degree highs! Not to rub it in.

Gram & Gramps invade Florida

We just wrapped up an enjoyable visit with Gram and Gramps. This morning, the kids were discussing how they hope they'll come more often now that they're retired. It was a very pleasant and relaxing visit. Jay and Gramps did some work around the house and made millions of trips to Home Depot. Gram and I went to see Les Mis and made a Goodwill trip, of course. Nana and Papa came over for dinner one night and we really enjoyed having all the grandparents and grandkids all together.

Oh! And this came in the mail! It's a canvas of the kids at Duck last year and it makes me sooooooo happy to look at it up on my mantel. I'm thinking of taking the ALLISON frame pictured below and putting a photo from that same spot every year. We would already have enough pictures to almost fill it! Hard to believe, but true.

On their final night here, we tried out a new pizza place (Rummy's). The kids got to make their own pizza (which is free on Monday's) and they had a nice happy hour. It's just a couple of miles from our house, so I know we'll be going there again!

All in all, a fabulous visit full of good times and great memories.

Thankful for Gram

For the second week in a row Logan has assisted Jay in making "Gram's Spaghetti". For the second week in a row at the dinner table when asked, Logan is "thankful for Gram so that we have this wonderful recipe to eat!" I concur!

more iPhone phaves (from Jay's camera)

Daddy and Logan took a trip alone to Jacksonville to visit the Apple store and get a new iPhone to replace my defective one. Looks like someone convinced Daddy to take him to his favorite restaurant for lunch...Subway!
Logan had fun hanging out with fellow Seminole, Tyler Tilden.
Back at home, the boys had a BUCKS party and roasted marshmallows. Gavin's probably smiling so big because he's about to eat some more sugar!
Daddy visits school to have lunch with the boys whenever possible.
Fortunately, this year they have the same lunch time.
BUCKS campers
And my little fisherman.
Oh my!
What is this? Does he feed them anything besides McDonalds?
Oh, he feeds them giant slices of pizza too, I guess.
Gram and Gramps!
Future Grizzly
A rare visit from Mommy at lunch on my birthday (during Spirit Week -- hence the zebra face).

Dreamin' of DUCK!

Just 2 short months till Christmas. Do you know what that means? Your album is coming!

True Story: I had a couple of Duck photos enlarged at Walgreens. When my order was ready for pick up, the Walgreen's photo lady called to inform me that because my photos "appeared to be professional" that I would need to have a signed release from the photographer in order to get my pictures. It made my day. :) Perhaps I'll post a few after Christmas for those of you that don't get a Christmas album in the mail, but for now I want to keep them hidden.

Duck 2010

Ok, well Pooh posted her July Duck photos in February, so I thought I should too! A little late, but there were only 876 photos to choose from so it took awhile to go through them all. Here are a few of my favorites....
