All good things must come to an end

Last day of sweet summertime ~ 2011

Our last day of summer was spent at the lake as a family. The Allison's went out in style, as usual, and I couldn't think of a better way to spend our last day. It was a fabulous summer in every way. I'm going to miss these times together.

Splendid SIX!

Presents, presents, and more presents.
Birthday boy!
He got a SKINK to scare Mommy (and boy does it)!
Sponge Bob + Lego = Pure Happiness
Thanks, Grandma Cathy!
Glow Crazy -- A glow in the dark pen and sticky paper. Awesome gift, Gram and Gramps! I highly recommend this one. Every night I write, "Mommy loves Gavin, Logan, and Keegan" before I tuck them into bed.
A real flying helicopter from Nana and Papa!
Only in our house (when Nana's around) do we get un-birthday gifts!
May all your wishes come true, sweet boy!

Wild times are here again

We concluded our sweet summertime activities with one final jaunt to Wild Adventures with Nana and Papa. We had some friends joining us for the second day. The park was dead so we just rode and rode all of the "big kid" rides. They are not for the faint of heart!

Papa and Keegan patiently waited for us to get off of a roller coaster ride. One of them is too small to fit on this bench.
Mr. Bossy Pants leads the way.
This ride twirls, spins, and lifts you in the air until you just can't take it anymore. The kids were so excited to be tall enough to finally ride this one...with an adult. I was the only parent brave enough to ride so I got to go on it multiple times. Lucky me!
A crazy bus ride with Nana.
I remember when they were two years old and would hold onto me for dear life on this mini-roller coaster. Not anymore. My big, brave boys like to ride by themselves in the front row.
"Look mom, no hands!"
Keegan finally decided to try his very first roller coaster ride! We barely made it out of our seats before he was begging to ride again.
My wild boys!
More roller coaster riding with Nana.
And Papa too! I told you he couldn't get enough of this ride!
Flying carpets.
Petting Zoo.
Old school angry birds!
The Frog Hopper with friends. This is a mini-firecracker ride for kids. It shoots you up in the air and then you "hop" back down. The big kid firecracker is not to be messed with! The boys were tall enough to ride, but didn't want to give Mommy a heart attack watching them, so we elected to skip it this time.
The Frog Hopper goes high enough with my babies. Thank you very much.
Mr. Bossy Pants: "Ok, here's how we're going to convince mom to do what we want next..."
Awwwwwww!

A little too wild!

A mid-summer trip to Wild Adventures with Nana left us sunburned and wiped-out. We must have gotten a little too wild!

born to be together

I'm not quite sure when or how this originated, but they boys have their own way of saying "I love you" to each other. They do this by hugging and stating, "We were BORN to be together, _______". Alternatively, if one makes the other mad, they will express their displeasure by saying, "We're NOT born to be together, _______". I love watching their friendships grow. How fun it must be to have two built-in playmates! Once again, we are so blessed.

Sweet Summertime: Part 5

Sleepovers.
Drawing pictures that are larger than we are!
More pool days.
Completing our swim lessons.
We even have swim days on rainy days!
There are no rules in the summertime!
Gymnastics
Meeting up with our favorite teachers for lunch.
Zoinks. Blue tongues. Friends.
Delicious slushies to cool us off from too much indoor bouncing!
Shopping at Toys R Us.
And even more frozen, sugary treats.
We did it all this summer and more!

Sweet Summertime: Part 4

Staying up late.
Going to the movies.
Wild Adventures.
Playing at the park.
Sleeping in (occasionally). Well, maybe it's just Mommy who sleeps in.
Playing in the rain.
"Field trips" all around town.

These are just a few of the things I love about summertime.

Popsicles anywhere and all the time.

Picnic lunches at the pool.
Quality Mommy time. No work!!!
Swim lessons.
Swimming, swimming, and more swimming.
Red Elephant lunches with Nana and friends.
The coveted "swim test passing bracelet" which entitles one to swim all day in the deep end of the lap pool.
Skinks. I don't like them, but I have to add them to my summertime list because they seem to follow me wherever I may be.
High Fives.
Unmandated afternoon naps.
Brothers and friends.
Oh, summer. I love you so.
