iphone treasures: November 2011

Standard Daddy Look
Caught Red Handed (and red-eyed)
Keegan "helping" unload the dishwasher by driving his Matchbox cars on the inside of the dishwasher door. He has always loved to do this.
Come here, Dovey-Dovey.
Always my baby.
We finally retired the 1998 Honda Civic that I purchased as a graduation gift to myself when I received my bachelor's degree. We sold the ol' girl to a teenager down the street, so we have the pleasure of seeing her drive by our house every day.

So this is my new ride, or "Mommy's Race Car" as the kids refer to it.
Amazing train artwork by Gavin.

Handsome boys, a cozy fire, and a pretty tree. What more can I ask for?

Turkey Trottin' 2011

Adhering to the Coddington/Allison family Thanksgiving tradition, we participated in the 35th annual Turkey Trot in Southwood. Papa bravely opted to run the 10K this year, while Daddy ran the 5K, and Mom gave the 15K her best shot.

OFFICIAL TIMES

PAPA:  1:05:29 (10:33 pace)

DADDY:  28:22 (9:08 pace)
(he also beat his previous best at this particular race by almost 1:30!)

MOMMY:  1:27:10 (9:22 pace)
(beating my previous 15K result for the Turkey Trot by 5 minutes!)

a sweet ending

After a late night of belt testing at the Den, we headed out for an early morning football game...the Raiders final game of the season. We defeated the opposing team, making it only a one game loss for the entire season. Incidentally, the game they lost was the one where we were on the cruise which meant that they had to play without two of their best players AND their defensive coach! So, I prefer to think of this as an undefeated season! :)

At the post-game, end-of-season party, we enjoyed a brunch of donuts, fruit, and bagels.
Coach Day presented the boys with trophies.

And Daddy gave some departing words of wisdom.
Coaches gifts
And the final call up...RAIDERS! It was a great season and we built some lasting friendships. We're gonna miss those kids!

Dragon's Den Belt Testing: 11.18.2011

Never a dull moment in the Allison household, we returned from our week long cruise vacation to walk right back into school, a belt testing, and our last football game of the season.

We did a little pre-performance fueling at Chick-Fil-A where the balloon guy made the boys swords to match their outfits.
Gavin was the only candidate for a green tip which meant he had to perform alone. Despite his nervousness, he really thrived under the pressure and made us proud!
Board breaking (I have a video to post on YouTube soon)
Logan went for his brown tip. He's going to be the smallest (and cutest) black belt someday soon!
And Keegan helped cheer them on.

The boys got to spar each other and take out some of their brotherly frustrations!

Later, Logan needed to spar a higher belt to show his skills. Since there weren't any, he got to spar Young Master Murphy who is training for an Olympic qualification!

Surprise! Master Murphy, impressed by Gavin's dedication and hard work, awarded him a green belt (meaning he got to skip a belt)!
